Privacy Policy for Android Development Info

Privacy Policy - Android Development Info

Privacy Policy

Application: Android Development Info
Provider: Arum Communications Corp.
Effective date: 2026-09-08

Arum Communications Corp. ("we", "us", "our") built the Android Development Info app ("the Service") as a free, ad-supported application with an optional one-time in-app purchase. The Service is aimed at Android developers, engineers, and technically advanced users, and shows system, hardware, package, and developer-oriented information about the device it is installed on, together with a set of developer tools. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use the Service, and the choices you have associated with that information.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Process

1.1 Information processed only on your device

The Service reads system, hardware, and application information already present on your device in order to display it to you, including:

  • Device and OS information (Android version, API level, codename, security patch level, build properties, SoC, sensors, battery and thermal status, network details, RAM, storage, display metrics, time zone)
  • Google Play services version and Google Play system module (Mainline) versions and license details
  • Developer-oriented system data such as Android system properties, other system properties, environment variables, kernel information, mount and partition information, directory information, and available media codecs
  • The list of applications installed on your device and their package information, including package name, version, install and update times, UID and GIDs, shared user ID, application info (directories, process name, target and minimum SDK versions), and the declared activities, services, broadcast receivers, content providers, instrumentations, declared permissions, and requested permissions of each package
  • Crash, ANR, and tombstone entries recorded by the Android system log dropbox, shown by the Crash Log Viewer tool. These entries are produced by the operating system and may contain stack traces, process and package names, and other diagnostic text about applications running on your device
  • Storage volume and free-space information used by the Fill Storage tool

This information stays on your device. We do not upload your device information, installed-app list, package details, system properties, environment variables, system module information, or system crash and ANR log entries to any server operated by us. The Service displays this data locally and does not retain it after you leave the relevant screen.

1.2 Information you choose to submit to us

The Developer Console tool lists shortcuts to third-party developer websites and consoles. It also includes an optional "request a site" form. If, and only if, you choose to submit that form, the site name and site URL you type are sent to a server operated by us so that we can consider adding the site to a future version of the app. No other information is attached to the request, and the form is entirely optional; every other part of the Developer Console works without it.

1.3 Permissions used

PermissionPurpose
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE Required to load advertising, deliver push notifications, validate in-app purchases, submit an optional Developer Console site request, and display network information.
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES Required to enumerate the applications installed on your device so the app can show the installed app list, package details, and component and permission information. This data is read on-device and is not uploaded.
READ_LOGS Used by the Crash Log Viewer to read crash, ANR, and tombstone entries recorded by the Android system log dropbox. This is a privileged permission that is not granted to ordinary apps; where it has not been granted on your device, the feature simply reports that it is unavailable. Log entries are read on-device and are not uploaded.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS Used together with READ_LOGS by the Crash Log Viewer on Android versions that require it in order to read system log dropbox entries. It is a special-access permission that you grant yourself in system settings, and you can revoke it at any time.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) Required to show notifications, such as alerts about available app or system updates.
com.android.vending.BILLING Required to offer and process the optional in-app purchase that removes advertising.

1.4 Information collected by third-party services

The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you or your device. These services may collect data such as device identifiers (Android Advertising ID), IP address, device model, operating system version, app version, language, country, crash logs, push notification tokens, and aggregated usage events. Please review each provider's privacy policy linked in Section 4 below.

Advertising in the app is provided by Google AdMob. To select, deliver, measure, and limit the frequency of ads, the advertising SDK may collect and process the device's advertising identifier, IP address (and coarse location derived from it), device and operating-system information, app version, language, country, and ad impression, click, and interaction data. See Section 4 for the applicable privacy policy.

A portion of the advertising in the app is also delivered through Unity LevelPlay (formerly ironSource), an advertising mediation platform operated by Unity Technologies (ironSource Ltd., a Unity company). LevelPlay mediation decides in real time which ad network fills each ad request and may serve ads from Unity Ads (Unity's advertising network), the ironSource ad network, Meta Audience Network (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.), and Google AdMob. To select, deliver, measure, and cap the frequency of these ads, the LevelPlay, Unity Ads, ironSource, and Meta Audience Network SDKs may collect and process the device's advertising identifier, IP address (and coarse location derived from it), device and operating-system information, app version, language, country, and ad impression, click, and interaction data. Unity, ironSource, and Meta process this information as described in their privacy policies linked in Section 4.

1.5 Purchase information

If you make an in-app purchase (for example, the one-time purchase to remove ads), the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing and managed through RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment instrument (e.g., credit card number). We receive an anonymous app user ID, purchase tokens, entitlement status, and purchase metadata such as country and product ID, in order to grant and validate your purchase.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide the core system, hardware, package, and developer information features (read locally on your device).
  • To provide the developer tools, such as the Crash Log Viewer, Developer Console, and Fill Storage, all of which operate on your device.
  • To consider adding a developer site that you voluntarily submit through the Developer Console request form.
  • To deliver advertising, including non-personalized ads where required by law or by your consent choice.
  • To send push notifications, such as update-related alerts.
  • To measure app performance, diagnose crashes, and improve stability.
  • To validate and manage in-app purchases.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal Basis (EEA/UK Users)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on (a) your consent for advertising, analytics, and crash reporting that involve personal data, collected through Google's Consent Management Platform (CMP) shown on first launch; (b) the performance of a contract for purchase processing; and (c) our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service. You can change your consent at any time from the in-app privacy settings.

4. Third-Party Service Providers and Their Privacy Policies

We use the following third-party services. Each link below leads to that provider's privacy policy and, where applicable, its description of the data it collects and how it is used.

The Developer Console feature also opens third-party developer websites and consoles (for example Google Play Console, Firebase Console, GitHub, and app-store developer portals) in your browser. Those sites are operated by their respective owners and are governed by their own privacy policies; the Service only provides the link.

5. Advertising and Your Choices

Ads are served by Google AdMob and through Unity LevelPlay mediation (which may deliver ads from Unity Ads, the ironSource ad network, and Meta Audience Network). These services may use the Android Advertising ID to deliver, measure, and limit the frequency of ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

  • On Android: open Settings → Google → Ads and toggle "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
  • For EEA, UK, or Swiss users, you may withdraw or change your advertising consent through the in-app privacy options, which re-displays the Google CMP consent form.
  • You may also remove ads entirely through the one-time in-app purchase.
  • Learn more: Advertising ID, Google Ad Settings.

6. Push Notifications

The Service uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send notifications, such as alerts about available app or system updates. To do this, the device is assigned a registration token. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's system notification settings; doing so does not affect the other features of the app.

7. Log Data

When the app itself crashes or encounters an error, third-party tools (Firebase Crashlytics) may collect diagnostic data including device IP, device model, operating system version, app configuration at the time of the error, and the time and date of the event. This information is used solely to diagnose and resolve issues.

This is separate from the Crash Log Viewer feature. The crash, ANR, and tombstone entries that the Crash Log Viewer displays are read from the Android system log dropbox on your device, are shown to you only, and are never transmitted to us or to any third party by the Service.

8. Developer Tools and Your Device

Some developer tools in the Service write to or change the state of your own device. In particular, the Fill Storage tool creates dummy files in order to consume free storage space for testing purposes, and lets you list and delete those files again. The files are created on your device only, their contents are meaningless filler, and nothing about them is transmitted to us. You are responsible for the amount of free space you choose to consume and for deleting the dummy files when you no longer need them.

9. Cookies

The Service does not itself use cookies. However, third-party SDKs embedded in the app may use cookie-equivalent identifiers (such as advertising IDs) to provide their services.

10. Data Retention

  • System, hardware, package, and developer information is read on demand and displayed locally; it is not stored on our servers.
  • Site names and URLs voluntarily submitted through the Developer Console request form are retained by us for as long as needed to evaluate and maintain the built-in site list.
  • Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat and Google Play Billing for as long as required to maintain your entitlement and for legal/accounting purposes.
  • Crash, analytics, and push-notification data are retained according to each provider's standard retention periods.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (EEA, UK, California, etc.), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information processed through the Service. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

13. Links to Other Sites

The Service may contain links to other sites, including the developer sites listed in the Developer Console. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

14. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it from our records. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take the necessary action.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective date" at the top.

16. Contact Us
